Decorative panel, for covering the ceiling. As well as the 'socarrats', other enamelled tiles were made. This characteristic may indicate that they were meant for places where there might be contact with water or for exterior use or also, due to their greater richness, in interiors more within reach. They are much rarer than 'socarrats'. This one, made in Manises in the last half of the 15th century, comes from a house in Patraix (Valencia) given as payment for help in the conquest by King James I to the Escrivà family. The coat of arms is of unknown filiation. Four quarters present to us, cross-wise, two castles, a lion and a wolf. Several variations of this coat of arms exist on 'socarrats' and other pieces. On either side, framing it, there are two lines of very simplified palmettes that fill the area of the slab.
