The Guide to the Collections of the Episcopal Museum of Vic, directed by the curator Josep M.Trullén, is the result of a coordinated work between researchers from the Museum, or from other similar museums, from university departments and from institutions related with art history. This volume presents to the public the essential knowledge we have today about the works exhibited in the Museum, and it resumes the scientific and promoting task that have accompanied the Museum during its history. The reading and study of this guide, that can be done before or after the visit to the Museum, will act as intermediary between the work and the person that contemplates it and will facilitate the viewer the dialog between the painting, the sculpture or the admired object. The MEV is known internationally for its extraordinary collections of painting and sculpture of the Romanesque and Gothic periods, but it has also collections of archaeology, lapidary, textiles and clothing, glass, furniture, leather, precious metals, forge and ceramics. All of them are contemplated in this Guide to the Collections, with quite a lot of elements to grasp the meaning of the works.
